Mountain View Shoreline Amphitheatre
Shoreline Ampitheatre is an outdoor ampitheatre, situated in the city of Mountain View, in the San Fransisco Bay area of California, United States. It was build between 1985 and 1986 by the owner, City of Mountainview, in cooperation with local promoter Bill Graham, as part of the Shoreline Park project, and has a maximum capacity of anywhere between 22,500 and 30,000. The amphitheater features a tarp roof, similar to Berlin's Waldbühne, and was designed by Graham to resemble the Grateful Dead's "steal your face" logo.
The Grateful Dead were planned to play the venue's first concert in '86, but the gig had to be cancelled due to Jerry Garcia's coma. Instead, the first even was a comedy night featuring Julio Iglesias and Roseanne Barr. The Grateful Dead eventually played the venue in 1987. In 2015, during a concert by Wiz Khalifa, a man was fatally shot backstage at the venue, and in 2022, during a Chris Stapleton concert, a man died after a fistfight with the Hells Angels. Eddie Money shows were a regular concert season closer up until his death in 2019.
Muse have played the Shoreline Amphitheatre in 2006, playing Download Festival's 2nd annual USA edition which was held at the venue on September 30th. They're set to return twenty years later, on August 26th, 2026, as part of The Wow! Signal North American Tour, supported by Portugal. The Man and The Temper Trap.
