Analysis and Explanation
Compliance was performed for the first time, along Won't Stand Down, at the very small gig at the Exeter Cavern on April 7, 2022. The song was subsequently played at virtually every gig during 2022 and 2023, becoming a live staple of the Will of the People World Tour and the second-most played song live from the Will of the People album.
Unlike the album version which features very little guitar, performances in 2022 featured more prominent guitar parts and chords played by Matt, thus giving the song a more "rock" feel live. The following year however saw Matt drop these additional parts (though still playing guitar for certain sections), thus performances sounded more akin to the album version. From May 2022 to January 2023, the song was also proceeded by The Gallery as an intro of sorts; from February 2023 onwards, Kill or Be Killed (Felsmann + Tiley Reinterpretation) was used as an intro instead.
