"Matt Bellamy x Ilan Eshkeri: George Orwell's 1984" is the soundtrack of the 2024 Amazon Audible adaptation of the book Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. It was released on May 15th, 2024, with support/approveal by the George Orwell Foundation. The package also includes 1x “bloodshot” splatter LP, a lithograph, graphic novel, slipmat, audio cassette, + t-shirt. All approved by the George Orwell Foundation.

Matthew Bellamy and Ilan Eshkeri recorded the soundtrack at Abbey Road Studios and features the London Metropolitan Orchestra. The adaptation stars Andrew Garfield as Winston Smith, Cynthia Erivo as Julia, Andrew Scott as O’Brien, and Tom Hardy as Big Brother.

The album features new compositions by Matt Bellamy, plus, collaborations with Ilan Eshkeri; it also features re-worked versions of Uprising, Resistance, and Exogenesis: Symphony Part III - Redemption.

Name & Artwork

The artwork is a representation of a "panicked Winston Smith", while the artwork contained in the art box is a "dive inside his head to reveal his memories" which are images from the “1984” story. According to Metaform Studio "Contained is a die-cut LP sleeve exposing numerous swappable ephemera to create the omnipresent eye of Big Brother".
