2011

Voting for nominations began on the 7th of December 2010,[1] while the resulting nominations were announced on the 24th of January.[1][2] The 2011 ceremony took place inside Brixton Academy, London, on the 23rd of February.[1][2]

Best British Band

Muse won this for the second year in a row. Also nominated were Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Foals and Kasabian.[2]

Best Live Band

Muse was nominated.[2][3] Also nominated were Arcade Fire, Biffy Clyro, Foals and Kasabian,[2] which Biffy Clyro eventually won.

Hero of the Year

Matthew Bellamy was nominated.[3] Also nominated were Julian Assange, Lady Gaga, Gerard Way and Kanye West,[2] which Lady Gaga eventually won.

Hottest Man

Bellamy won and Dominic Howard was nominated[2][3]. Also nominated were Billie Joe Armstrong, Jared Leto and Alex Turner.[2]

2010

The nominations for the 2010 NME Awards were announced on 25 Jan. The Awards were held on 24 February at the O2 Academy Brixton.[4] [5]

Best Guitar Riff

Plug In Baby won.

Best British Band

Muse won. Also nominated: Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Kasabian and Oasis.

Best Live Band

Muse was nominated. Also nominated: Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Radiohead and Them Crooked Vultures. Arctic Monkeys won.

Best Album

The Resistance was nominated. Also nominated: Arctic Monkeys - Humbug, Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, The Cribs - Ignore The Ignorant, and The Horrors - Primary Colours. Kasabian won.

Best Live Event

The 2009 Teignmouth gig was nominated. Blur at Hyde Park won.

Hero Of The Year

Matt Bellamy was nominated. Also nominated: Beyoncé Knowles, Noel Gallagher, Rage Against The Machine, and Alex Turner. Rage Against the Machine won.

Worst Dressed

Matt Bellamy was nominated. Also nominated: Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Liam Gallagher, Elly Jackson and La Roux. Lady Gaga won.

Hottest Man

Matt Bellamy won and Dominic Howard was also nominated.

Best Website

The Official Muse website won. Also nominated: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Greenday.com.

Best Album Artwork

The Resistance was nominated. Also nominated: Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown, Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, The Cribs - Ignore The Ignorant and Manic Street Preachers - Journal For Plague Lovers. Kasabian won.

Best Band Blog

The Official Muse website and Twitter were nominated. Radiohead won.

2009

Best British Band

Muse was nominated. Also nominated: Bloc Party, The Last Shadow Puppets, Oasis, Radiohead. Oasis won. [6] [7]

HAARP was nominated. Also nominated: Arctic Monkeys - 'At The Apollo', Foo Fighters - 'Live At Wembley Stadium', Kaiser Chiefs - 'Live At Elland Road', The Rolling Stones - 'Shine A Light'. Arctic Monkeys - 'At The Apollo' won.

Best Album Artwork

HAARP won. Also nominated: The Cure - '4:13 Dream', Guillemots - 'Red', The Killers - 'Day & Age', We Are Scientists - 'Brain Thrust Mastery'.

Sexiest Male

Bellamy won. Also nominated: Carl Barat, Keith Murray, Miles Kane and Pete Doherty.

2008

The complete list of the nominated was made public on 30th Jan 2008. The ceremony was held on 28th February 2008.

Best British Band

Muse were nominated. Also nominated: Arctic Monkeys, Babyshambles, The Cribs, Klaxons. Arctic Monkeys won.[8]

Wembley shows were nominated. Also nominated: Carling Weekend, Glastonbury, T In The Park, V Festival. Carling Weekend won.[8]
