Voting for nominations began on the 7th of December 2010,[1] while the resulting nominations were announced on the 24th of January.[1][2] The 2011 ceremony took place inside Brixton Academy, London, on the 23rd of February.[1][2][3]
Best British Band
Muse won this for the second year in a row.[3] Also nominated were Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Foals and Kasabian.[2]
Best Live Band
Muse was nominated.[2][4] Also nominated were Arcade Fire, Biffy Clyro, Foals and Kasabian,[2] which Biffy Clyro eventually won.
Hero of the Year
Matthew Bellamy was nominated.[4] Also nominated were Julian Assange, Lady Gaga, Gerard Way and Kanye West,[2] which Lady Gaga eventually won.
Hottest Man
Bellamy won[3] and Dominic Howard was nominated[2][4]. Also nominated were Billie Joe Armstrong, Jared Leto and Alex Turner.[2]

The nominations for the 2010 NME Awards were announced on 25 Jan. The Awards were held on 24 February at the O2 Academy Brixton.[5] [6]
