Similar to during the [[Simulation Theory World Tour]] in 2019, the Mexican shows got a festival set-up, which bore more resemblance to  the 2022 festival setup, in terms of lighting fixtures, and the show itself. For the second leg, the U.S. arena tour, more songs were added, a few songs were swapped, and the setup recieved additional elements, which include an addition of six moving light panels, hung above the band, more lights on the back grid, lights underneath the stage, a B-stage with a retractable floor, and an addition of another demon/minotaur-like inflatable figure, named by Bellamy as "Baph", which gets erected during the final encore.

The "Will of the People World Tour" is the current headlining tour, set to take place in until the summer of this year.

Information

The first gigs of the tour were announced on August 19th, 2022. Four gigs were announced in total, all in the UK, and all appearing to be outdoor stadium gigs. With the tour being called the "World Tour", it was expected that more tour dates in other countries would be announced in the future. Bellamy mentioned, in an interview with Zane Lowe in August of 2022, that the tour was planned to take place between January and July of 2023, starting in Mexico, continuing in the U.S. and Canada, and finishing in Europe, as appears to be the case.[1]

These first UK gigs that were announced will take place in Plymouth's Home Park, Huddersfield's John Smith's Stadium, Glasgow's Bellahouston Park and Milton Keynes's National Bowl.

The tour will feature Muse's first show in the city of Wiener Neustadt, Austria, and Muse's first performance at Milton Keynes. The last time Muse were at Milton Keynes was during the rehearsals for The Resistance stadium tour in 2010. Additionally, Muse are set to go back to The Hague, Netherlands after almost 23 years, for the show at Malieveld, and Lyon, France, after more than a decade.

The U.S. & Canadian portion of the tour was finally announced on September 29th, 2022. U.S. shows are set to take place indoors, right after the Mexico leg, beginning in Chicago's United Center on February 25th, and closing in Salt Lake City's Vivint Smart Home Arena on April 20th. Two additional gigs in Montreal and Quebec were announced on October 6th, while additional gigs in St. Louis and Oakland were announced on October 17th.

Mexican dates were announced on October 7th, and included stops in Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City, An additional date in Mexico City was announced on October 27th, 2022. All gigs took place before the second, U.S. leg. Filmed and edited by photographer and videographer Johann Ramos (most known as "The Work of Jar"), a short documentary-style video, just shy of 5 minutes, was uploaded on Muse's YouTube channel on February 24th, 2022, following the band around their stay in Mexico. It can be watched here.

Two more additional European dates have been announced on January 20th, 2023, including the first show of the tour in Spain, in Santander's El Sardinero on July 4th, and a gig at Nancy's Zénith amphitheatre on July 6th, where they'll be playing a headlining show, as part of the Nancy Open Air festival.

After being teased on February 16th by the band on social media, the band announced the only Asian gig of the tour in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, on February 22nd, with info about the venue coming at a later date.[2] It will be the band's first time in the country since 2007.

Additional information

While no new songs were played during the January leg in Mexico, the second U.S. leg, starting in Chicago, in February, recieved live premieres of Verona and The Dark Side (Alternate Reality Version) (Instrumental). Simulation Theory Theme was played by the band for the first time in its shortened form, while Resistance and the shortened version of Isolated System also recieved their tour debuts, both being played for the first time since 2018. Additionally, Kill or Be Killed's Feilsmann + Tiley Reinterpretation version was played from tape, as an interstitial.

Supporting acts

For the UK shows (exception being the Glasgow one), Royal Blood were announced as the support band. Royal Blood were also announced as the support band for the rest of the European shows (exception being the Nancy one). For the U.S. shows, Evanescence were announced as the support band. Additional support acts for U.S. shows were announced on November 9th, 2022; One Ok Rock will be supporting Muse during the first half of the U.S. leg (between Chicago and Philadelphia gigs), while Highly Suspect will be supporting Muse during the second half of the U.S. leg (between the Phoenix and Salt Lake City gigs).[3] On January 13th, 2023, The Warning were announced as the support act for the Mexico gigs.[4]

So far, it is unknown who will be supporting Muse at Glasgow and Nancy.

Production

As with the previous large headlining tour, the Simulation Theory World Tour, this tour features indoor, outdoor and festival shows. The stage set-up in general is a hybrid between the 2022 festivals tour and the autumn theatre tour setups. It includes an inflatable rotating figure of Will the Hacker as a backdrop, together with abig grid of lights, similar to the one from the theatre tour.

Similar to during the Simulation Theory World Tour in 2019, the Mexican shows got a festival set-up, which bore more resemblance to the 2022 festival setup, in terms of lighting fixtures, and the show itself. For the second leg, the U.S. arena tour, more songs were added, a few songs were swapped, and the setup recieved additional elements, which include an addition of six moving light panels, hung above the band, more lights on the back grid, lights underneath the stage, a B-stage with a retractable floor, and an addition of another baphomet-like inflatable figure, named by Bellamy as "Baph", which gets erected during the final encore.
