One Ok Rock
One Ok Rock (stylized as ONE OK ROCK) is a Tokyo-based Japanese alternative rock band. The band formed in 2005 by Toru Yamashita and Ryota Kohama, and consists of Takahiro Moriuchi (vocals), Toru Yamashita (guitar), Ryota Kohama (bass) and Tomoya Kanki (drums). Former members include Yu Koyanagi (drums) and Alexander Reimon Onizawa (guitar). The bands' influences include Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, The Used and more. One Ok Rock were originally affiliated with the management and entertainment company "Amuse, Inc.", before leaving in 2021, forming their own management called "10969 Inc.". In the U.S., the band are signed with the record label "Fueled by Ramen".
Rising to international fame in 2012 with the song called "The Beginning", from their 2013 album, "Jinsei×Boku=", they have since then started releasing albums in both Japanese-English and English versions. Their 2015 album, "35xxxv" is the first of theirs to chart on the US Billboard charts, peaking at No. 1 on the World Albums Chart. Their 2017 LP, "Ambitions", debuted at number 106 on the US Billboard 200. One Ok Rock have, so far, released ten studio albums. These include their debut album Zeitakubyo (released in 2007), Beam of Light (2008), Kanjō Effect (2008), Niche Syndrome (2010), Zankyo Reference (2011), Jinsei×Boku= (2013), 35xxxv (2015), Ambitions (2017), Eye of the Storm (2019) and Luxury Disease (2022). In 2016, the band won a Classic Rock Roll of Honour Award under the Eastern Breakthrough Male Band category, while a year later, in 2017, they won a Rock Sound Award for Best International Band, and, in 2018 for Best Live Performance. The band were also nominated for Best International Band at the 2016 and Best Breakthrough Band at the 2017 Alternative Press Music Awards.
One Ok Rock joined Evanescence, opening for Muse during the first half of the U.S. leg of the Will of the People World Tour in 2023. The band also opened for Muse during select European dates of the tour throughout the summer of 2023, together with Royal Blood.
