Highly Suspect
Highly Suspect are an American alternative rock band, formed in 2009, in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The band includes twin brothers Rich (bass and backing vocals) and Ryan Meyer (drums and backing vocals), frontman Johnny Stevens (guitar and lead vocals), Matt Kofos (guitar, synth and backing vocals) and Mark Schwartz (guitar, synth and keyboards). The band started as a cover band, playing in local bars and smaller venues.
The band's debut EP, "First Offense", released in 2009, marked a switch from them being a cover band. A year later, their second EP, "The Gang Lion" was released. All songs off of the latter EP also feature on their self-titled compilation album, out in 2011. In 2012, they relocated from Cape Cod to Brooklyn, New York, where they recorded their third EP, titled "The Worst Humans", produced by Joel Hamilton, while their fourth EP "Black Ocean", was released in 2013, produced by both Hamilton and Gojira frontman, Joe Duplantier.
In 2015, the band went on tour to support Deftones, Chevelle, Halestorm, Catfish and the Bottlemen and the late Scott Weiland. Their first LP, "Mister Asylum", was released the same year. The main single, "Lydia", peaked at number 4 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Songs chart. The album debuted at number 39 on the New Zealand Albums Chart. Also in 2015, the Highly Suspect were selected for iTunes' 2015 New Artist Spotlight by its editors. In 2016, "The Boy Who Died Wolf" was released as their second studio album. "My Name Is Human" was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. In 2019, their MCID, was released in 2019, and includes a song called "Tokyo Ghoul", featuring rapper Young Thug. In 2022, the band released their fourth studio album, "The Midnight Demon Club".
Highly Suspect joined Evanescence in supporting Muse during the second half of the U.S. leg of the Will of the People World Tour in 2023. During the gigs, Stevens joined Evanesence on-stage during Bring Me to Life for the rap part.
