Chris's Mastermind GT 22

The Mastermind GT/22 is an all-around MIDI foot controller, developed by RJM Music Technology, a smaller company based in California, United States. It is the largest in their family of Mastermind GT Controllers, with 22 configurable buttons. Its two "younger brothers" include the Mastermind GT/16 with 16 buttons, and the Mastermind GT/10 with 10 buttons. All of these controllers also have a built-in tuner.

The design of, not only the GT/22, but all Mastermind GT controllers, including the colour labeling options, are similar to that of Liquid-Foot Pro MIDI controllers, which Matt used during The 2nd Law tours. The GT/22 has been used by both Matt and Chris on-stage ever since the Drones tour began in 2015. As with all previous controllers, the GT/22 is used for quick access to different effects, effect presets, amp configurations (including Kemper and Fractal Audio digital units), and access to the rack-mounted Korg Pitchblack tuner which is installed inside Matt's and Chris's on-stage pedalboard. Live, they are mostly manipulated by their techs, however, Matt does switch by himself more often than Chris - there was an exception, however, when Chris did all his switching, which was during the 2018 La Cigale gig, in Paris, when his tech was absent, with a substitute handling his basses. Chris's switching during the gig is most clearly seen in this clip.

In 2022, when Muse held a very intimate and small gig, which took place in Exeter's Cavern Club, with the band placed on a small stage, Matt and Chris opted for the Mastermind GT/10, which, as it's written above and as its name suggests, sports less buttons and thus takes less space on-stage due to its smaller footprint.
