Background
Three years in development, the Black Edition is a series of reissue guitars, replicating the Manson 007, one of Bellamy's first guitars, released by Manson in the beginning of 2026 . It's the third replica series, after the Manson DL-OR and the Manson DL-1, with original circuit creator Ron Joyce involved in both projects. The series comes in three guitars, the "MB New Era Black Edition" and "Black Edition Relic", outfitted with upgraded and modernised circuitry found on the original 007, with the relic version, as its name suggests, mimicking its worn out satin black body, and the "Black Edition", which is a 100% replica of the original 007, including the electronics, hardware and even the labels.
The whole project began by the team getting the original 007 back to full tour-ready operational status in order to figure out exactly how the circuitry works, followed by the recreation of the guitar's exact dimensions, including all the chips and dings in the body. The components of the Black Edition, including the Fernandes Sustainer and the Z.Vex Wah Probe were accurately sourced, despite limited availabilty, thus limiting the number of guitars in the batch to just 9 pieces. The guitar is sold in a custom Protechnic case and includes a strap, a custom copper certificate, a pick tin with picks and strings, presumably used by Bellamy himself.[1]
The New Era Black Edition guitars are modified guitars off of Manson's MB New Era model line, aiming to replicate the original 007 as much as possible, using new and upgraded components. The guitars feature the Sustainiac replacing the Sustainer and the new MGW FL Wah instead of the Z.Vex Wah Probe aswell as Manson's own DB90 and HP90 pickups instead of the Seymour Duncan Hot P-90 and the Bare Knuckle Mississippi Queen. The two guitars are sold in a MGW x Hiscox hardcase with a premium copper foil strap.[2][3]
