Background
The Manson DL-OR, as it's name suggests, is an in-depth replica of the iconic Manson Delorean, one of Matt's first guitars he got from Hugh Manson back in 2001. The guitar was released in a limited batch of 24 guitars on October 26th, 2021, after a series of teasers of Bellamy posing with the guitar in Back to the Future's DMC DeLorean. The guitar's nicknamed by Manson as the “Origin Re-issue”.
Unlike the Manson DL-1, another Delorean replica, the DL-OR goes more in-depth into Matt's original Delorean, in terms of controls and features, with the team stripping and studying the original Delorean in detail during the development of the new model. According to Mansons, "The aim was to produce a modern DL as if Matt was ordering it today, but with a serious look to the guitars historic past. ". [1]
The guitar comes with two Manson-designed pickups, made by in-house pickup builder and designer Simon Thorn; One is the multi-rail "Mother Superior" pickup, which comes in a push/pull coil split switching mode, and the other one is the DB90 (short for "Deci Bell 90"), modelled after the P90 pickup. The guitar also features a built-in USA ZVEX Fuzz Factory and MXR Phase 90. With the original having a Graph Tech saddle system, amplified through a custom Ron Joyce preamp, Ron Joyce was able to collaborate on the DL-OR project by rebuilding the circuit for the guitar.
The DL-OR was sold in two visual formats; The standard DL-OR, and the reliced DL-OR.
