Information
Muse were set to headline the Calabash festival concerts in South Africa in February 2026, together with A Day To Remember, Nothing But Thieves and Simple Plan. The gig was announced by the festival on December 10th, 2025, together with the gig at the Johannesburg edition of the festival. The two South African gigs would have marked Muse's return to South Africa after 18 years, when they performed in Johannesburg and Cape Town as part of the My Coke Festival in 2008.
On 13 January 2026, many ticket holders began receiving bank notifications indicating refunds for tickets they had purchased for the event. The following morning, Calabash officially confirmed that Calabash South Africa 2026 had been cancelled due to Muse pulling out of the festival.[4] Muse released the following statement:
"Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we will be unable to proceed with the upcoming scheduled shows. This has been a very difficult decision and one we did not take lightly. We’re truly sorry to everyone who purchased tickets and appreciate your understanding. Refunds will be available from the point of purchase. We hope to be back with you again very soon. Muse”
As a result, all of Muse’s planned February 2026 performances in South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and India were cancelled. All Calabash concert tickets, including parking and park-and-ride tickets, were to be automatically refunded via the original point of purchase, with refunds expected to reflect within 5–10 business days.[5]
