Muse headlined Big Day Out 2010 in Australia, including their first of two Sydney shows, on the 22nd of January. Tickets went on sale 7th October, 2009, at midnight through the official website, and at 9AM through other ticket outlets.[2]

The show

At the start of the encore, Nic Cester from the band Jet came on stage. He and Muse performed a cover of AC/DC's Back in Black, with Bellamy playing lead guitar, Morgan playing rhythm guitar and Chris playing bass. This happened again on January 23rd show. This weren't Muse's only full performances of the song; In the Summer of 2010, Muse invited Cester to join them performing the song in full again at the San Siro Stadium gig, and, in 2017, the band were joined by Brian Johnson himself, performing the song at Reading Festival.

Schedule

  • 21:10–22:30 – Muse
  • 19:00–20:00 – The Mars Volta
  • 17:00–18:00 – Dizzee Rascal
  • 15:20–16:10 – Eskimo Joe
  • 13:45–14:30 – Mastodon

Speech

During Unnatural Selection Bellamy "Get these people some fucking water!"[3]
Before Back in Black Howard "We're gonna do a cover song now, from our favourite Australian band, who have never played at this festival incidentally...and to help us do that, we're gonna invite a special guest on stage, Mr. Nic Cester. Give him a big hand, come on".[4]
After Back in Black Bellamy "Cheers".[5]
