Stephenie Meyer
Stephenie Meyer is a writer graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in English. She lives with her husband and three young sons in Phoenix, Arizona. After the publication of her first novel, Twilight, booksellers chose Stephenie Meyer as one of the "most promising new authors of 2005"[1]. Since the publication of Twilight in 2005, she has published three sequels to it: New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn.
The books
Stephenie Meyer lists Muse as an inspiration for her second novel New Moon. Acknowledgments of the novel New Moon: "-- And, finally, thank you to the talented musicians who inspire me, particularly the band Muse - there are emotions, scenes, and plot threads in this novel that were born from Muse songs and would not exist without their genius. --"
Acknowledgments of Meyer's third novel Eclipse: "-- I am in your debt, rock gods of Muse, for yet another inspiring album. Thank you for continuing to create my favorite writing music. --"
In her final book Breaking Dawn, Meyer also dedicated it to Muse. "And thanks also to my favourite band, the very aptly named Muse, for providing a saga's worth of inspiration. --"
Stephenie has made playlists to listen to while reading her novels. Twilight playlist features Muse's Time Is Running Out.[2] New Moon playlist features Hyper Music, Apocalypse Please, Sing for Absolution and Unintended.[3] Eclipse playlist features The Small Print, New Born, Hysteria, Yes Please, Blackout, Falling Away With You.[4] In Breaking Dawn, the playlist features Can't Take My Eyes off of You, Intro to Apocalypse Please, Take a Bow, and Assassin.[5]
Twilight's film
Twilight was later made into a movie in 2008 and the director Catherine Hardwicke said that she would very much like Muse to write a song for the soundtrack or have some of their other music in the movie.[6] Stephenie Meyer thinks Matt Bellamy would be the perfect person to write "Bella's Lullaby", a significant song in the book.[7]
Catherine Harkwicke, the director of the movie version stated at Comic Con 2008 (held in July) that Muse was on the soundtrack of the movie.[8].
On October the 6th, an announcement was published on Stephenie Meyer's official site, containing the tracklist of the Original Soundtrack for the Twilight's film. Muse's Supermassive Black Hole appears as the first song.[9] Also, the song I Belong To You was featured in Twilight's sequel, New Moon. In the most recent addition to the saga, Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever) features in the graduation party scene at the Cullen family home.
