Information
Muse were set to headline the Calabash festival concerts in South Africa in February 2026, together with A Day To Remember, Nothing But Thieves and Simple Plan. The gig was announced by the festival on December 10th, 2025, together with the gig at the Cape Town edition of the festival.
The two South African gigs would mark Muse's return to South Africa after 18 years, when they performed in Johannesburg and Cape Town as part of the My Coke Festival in 2008.
Unfortunately, on 13 January 2026, many ticket holders started to receive bank notifications about refunds for the tickets that they had purchased for the event. Any remaining tickets that were previously available, were also marked as sold-out. While no official statement had been issued by either the band or Calabash by 21:30 SAST (GMT+2:00) that night, rumors about the band pulling out of the event (and the whole event being called off as a result) were so prominent, that a formal announcement was clearly imminent.
