There are similarities between Space Dementia and Megalomania and Sergei Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor and also Piano Concerto No. 3 in D Minor. His influence can also be heard in the piano solo from Butterflies and Hurricanes.
Matthew Bellamy has claimed that he is not even in Rachmaninov's league in a piano duel situation.
"With Rachmaninoff, Lizst, and Chopin, there’s a mystery to the music, it’s much more abstract and much more able to stimulate your imagination" Bellamy declared in Keyboardmag.com.
Matt said that Exogenesis: Symphony have a influence from Rachmaninov[1]
