The gig's announcement came in after the planned 2016 gig in Istanbul was cancelled after a coup attempt, which happened a couple weeks prior.

Due to the concert's organiser's (DBL Entertainment) chairman being in favour of Turkish president Erdogan and denouncing on-going demonstrations against the Turkish oppressive government, with artists like Trevor Noah and Ane Brun also cancelling their concerts organised by DBL, the band have received pressure from fans to pull out of the event.
