(I edited the set list to be more consistent with the ones from the resistance era. In 2009/2010 they played Nishe with matt on piano, it was written on the paper setlists and it lasted ~1m45 / 2m, just like nowadays, and on the pages of those gigs Nishe is displayed like other songs with it's own number etc. So I find it more consistent to do the same for this tour. I hope my explanations are clear. Feel free to edit it back if you disagree.) |

Information
Announced by the festival on April 18th, 2022, Muse are set to headline the 2022 edition of Rock in Rio in Lisbon, on June 18th, filling in for original headliners Foo Fighters, who withdrew following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. As such, Muse will be headlining the festival together with Post Malone, Duran Duran & the Black Eyed Peas.[6]
Dear Sherlock, a well known (but pretty unknown) band in the Muse fanbase played the same day, but in another stage.[7]
This will mark the fourth time Muse would make an appearance on the festival, four years after their appearance at the last Lisbon edition of Rock in Rio, which took place in 2018. They appeared six times on the Rock in Rio festival overall, last time being in Rio 2019.
The Show
Just before Interlude + Hysteria, Matt’s guitar completely cut out, forcing the band to stall for several moments.
Rain began to pour quite heavily at the end of Compliance and remained for the rest of the show.
Matt’s vocals were distorted for Time is Running Out’s choruses, marking the first time distortion has been used in the song since the Absolution Tour.
Supermassive Black Hole featured a non-kaoss pad solo, which is quite a rare occurrence. This also marked the first The Gallery performance without the kaoss pad.
Murph the Robot from the Simulation Theory Tour was lowered onto the stage via wires during Kill or be Killed. This was likely because the new model, Will, along with the band’s regular stage set-up, was being prepared for the gig at Isle of Wight Festival taking place the very next day. (Matt went onto to effectively confirm this on his Instagram post here.)
Kill or be Killed’s outro featured some additional vocals for the first time.
