Supremacy was a stable of The 2nd Law Tour, being performed at nearly every date of the entire tour. It was commonly preceded by Unsustainable and opened most gigs during the tour. After the St. Louis gig in 2013, Isolated System also preceded the song at some dates. However, alongside the other singles from The 2nd Law, Survival, Panic Station and Follow Me, it has rarely made an appearance since. Supremacy made rare appearances during the Drones Summer Festival Tour in 2015, mostly appearing as a rarity after the band stopped performing Animals, and appearing solely at 3 multi-night gigs in 2016. The Drones Tour versions, though far fewer in number, is considerably heavier than The 2nd Law Tour versions.

Description

'Supremacy' sees the band going to "absurd levels," according to Matt. Spiralling swamp blues of the track builds to a climax of orchestral hysteria as Matt orates a terrifying scene of mankind losing its supremacy over the Earth as "the seas have risen up" and energy shortages cause global desperation.[1]

According to a French magazine, Jeuxactu, the song has elements of "Kashmir" from Led Zeppelin in its guitar riff and orchestration.[2] The main drum beat is very similar, albeit in a slower form, to the drumbeat at the slow section of the Arctic Monkeys' "Crying Lightning" towards the end of the song.

During the post-Madness debut interview on Radio One with Zane Lowe, Matt said the song had a "big 7-string riff."

This song has been compared to Led Zeppelin and a James Bond theme tune.

The song was played at almost every gig during the The 2nd Law Tour, but only made very occasional appearances during the Drones Tour
