Information

Muse were announced as one of the headliners (together with Disclosure), of Lollapalooza Brasil 2014, in November of 2013. Muse headlined on night one, playing after Phoenix, Julian Casablancas, Capital Cities and Vespas Mandarinas. Other well known bands playing at that festival were Imagine Dragons, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden or Arcade Fire amongst many others.

The venue (and a famous F1 racetrack) was known at the time as Autódromo de Interlagos.

The Show

Lithium (by Nirvana) was covered by Muse for the first time. It was dedicated to Kurt Cobain since the show took place in the same month as the death of Cobain 20 years prior. Matt sang the verses and Chris sang the chorus. Undisclosed Desires and Muscle Museum both appeared on the original setlist but neither were played. Yes Please and Isolated System however didn't feature on the original setlist but were played. This gig also marks the last performance of Liquid State to date.

Due to Matt suffering from laryngitis (that caused the previously scheduled gig to be cancelled), he noticeably struggled to sing for most of the show, using very little falsetto and having both the crowd and Wolstenholme sing far more than usual. He also sang many parts of the songs lower than usual, such the "ooh-yeah"'s in Time is Running Out, the final chorus of Bliss, and the outro of Plug in Baby. During the Execution Commentary riff, Matt threw his guitar into the air twice and then into the inside of the piano.(watch)

After the show, Matt posted a Tweet saying "Thanks Sao Paolo for ur support tonight and singing for me. Sorry we missed Muscle Museum. promise to come back next year and will play it."
