Z.Vex
Z.Vex is a Minneapolis-based effects pedal company, that specializes in producing niche guitar and bass pedals, led by Zachary Vexter, from whom the company name derives from. Many people describe Vexter as a "mad scientist" in the guitar and bass effects pedal area.
Muse are well-known for incorporating Z.Vex effects into the songs, most notably Bellamy, who has been using a Z.Vex Fuzz Factory, their most known effect, built into some of his guitars, both live and in the studio, ever since Origin of Symmetry. Besides the Fuzz Factory, Bellamy also has a Z.Vex Wah Probe built into the Manson 007. Other pedals Bellamy has been seen using in the studio are the Z.Vex Super Hard On and the Z.Vex Super Duper 2-in-1.
Alike Bellamy, Wolstenholme also incorporated some of Z.Vex's effects into his setup. Ever since Absolution, he's had a Z.Vex Woolly Mammoth in his pedalboard, supposedly using it live on Time Is Running Out, blended with a synth track, and can also be heard on Guiding Light, and possibly more songs. Another pedal he's been using is the Z.Vex Mastotron as well as the Z.Vex Basstortion, as noted in the 2015 issue of Bass Player Magazine.[1]
