Vienna Donauinsel
Donauinsel (translated in English as Danube Island) is a long, narrow island in Vienna, Austria, located between the Danube river and the parallel excavated channel called "Neue Donau" (New Danube). The island measures 21 kilometres in length and only 70-210 metres in width. The main purpose of the island is to be part of Vienna's flood protection system.
The island is known as a recreational area with bars, restaurants and nightclubs aswell as sports oportunities, from rollerblading to cycling, swimming and canoeing. It also has it's own beach, nicknamed "Copa Cagrana". Donauinsel is also known for hosting the annual Donauinselfest, Europe's biggest event of its kind. The island also hosted a two-day rock festival called "Rock in Vienna" between 2015 and 2017. Muse performed on it's first edition.
