The Hague Malieveld
Malieveld (English: "Pall-mall Field") is a large grass field, located in the area of Haagse Hout, in the city centre of The Hague, in Netherlands. The area is located opposite to the Hague's central train station. Attached to it also sits a long-running pastry shop, called "Paviljoen Malieveld". The Malieveld used to be part of the Haagse Bos forest, and still borders it to this day. Both the Malieveld and the Haagse Bos combined form the historic Koekamp, which used to be a hunting area for th Counts of Holland. Its name, "Koekamp", derives its name from the cows that grazed there, and has retained its original function as an animal pasture.
Malieveld is also known for being host to many events, including concerts, funfairs and markets. The area is also frequently used for demonstrations. In spring, the area pays host to the Eurasian Tong Tong Fair. In september, The Hague's annual funfair is organised at the premises of Malieveld. In terms of concerts, the Malieveld is home to the Liberation Festival and the Parkpop Festival, amongst others. Musical artists who have performed at the area include Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, P!nk, and more.
