Background

First teased by Matt on the 2nd of May (2025) on his Instagram that this guitar was currently in production at MGW with the caption: "Looking forward to hear what riff damage I can do with this 8-string midnight purple beast". The finished guitar was first teased on the 11th of June in a video leading up to Muse's first 2025 gig with muffled audio of Unravelling. Before the Kulttuuritalo gig, Matt posted a picture of him holding the finished guitar on his Instagram. The next day, MGW posted the full professionally shot pictures of the guitar.

This guitar is the first 8-string guitar Matt has used live or in the studio. The headstock resembles Matt's other 7-string headstocks with the contour of the standard Oryx line more, albeit with a much longer head. Matt stated that the first song he wrote after he was given the guitar was Unravelling, and added that he hoped to write at least a few more songs with the guitar.

Touring

The guitar was first seen at the Kulttuuritalo gig in June 2025. It is used exclusively for Unravelling.

It is currently unknown what special tuning the guitar is in.
