KROQ’s Island Invasion (20061020 Kerrang feature)
A mini review of Muse' performance at the KROQ Inland Invasion 2006. Originally transcribed by "chatton49" of Muselive.com.[1]
7.10PM MUSE begin their set with the prog-tastic epic 'Knights Of Cydonia' - possibly their best known track in America, thanks to heavy airplay of the song's awesome, Wild West-themed video. Linkin Park's Chester Bennington is seen trying to get to his seat. He has come especially to see Muse perform today.
Muse's set runs seamlessly, apart from a bizarre mishap where drummer Dom Howard plays 'Starlight' while the rest of the band play 'Time is Running Out'. Thankfully, hardly anyone notices. At one point Matt Bellamy teases the crowd with the riff to Rage Against The Machine's 'Bulls On Parade'. He looks at bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and the two share a private giggle.
Otherwise it's a typically magisterial performance, with surprisingly heavy tracks such as 'New Born' and 'Hysteria' leaving many speechless. Can Muse break America? On tonight's evidence, they've already triumphed.
