Dublin 3Arena
3Arena, formerly known as The O2 is an indoor amphitheatre, located in the Dublin Docklands in Dublin, Ireland. The venue opened in December of 2008 as The O2 and was rebranded in 2014 when the telecom service O2 Ireland was taken over by Three Ireland, another telecomunications service. The venue was designed by Populous (or HOK Sport) - The same designers who helped design the The O2 Arena in London.
It was built on the site of the former Point Theatre (or as it's reffered to as, The Point Depot), which was a music venue operating between 1988 and 2007. The new arena became bigger with capacity increased from 8,500 (standing) by approximately 5,000 compared to the older arena. 3Arena holds up to 13,000 people. It is owned by Apollo Leisure Group Ltd., a Live Nation subsiduary. It is among the top ten busiest music arenas in the world.
The first concert held at 3Arena was U2. Other acts who performed at the arena include Guns n' Roses with their controversial 2010 show after arriving on stage a substantial amount of time later than planned and had bottles thrown on them which made them pause the show until finishing it after most of the audience left, Rammstein, Britney Spears. Mariah Carey (who, in 2019, performed her first show in Ireland at the arena with tickets selling out within 10 minutes) and many more. Since 2014, the arena is also host to the annual C2C: Country to Country, a country music festival.
