Cleveland Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, previously known as Gund Arena and Quicken Loans Arena, is an indoor multi-purpose arena located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. The arena opened in 1994 as part of the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex, replacing Richfield Coliseum as the primary entertainment facility for the region and home of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The arena was designed by Ellerbe Beckett, a former architectural company. It's seating capacity ranges anywhere from 9,447 to 19,432, depending on the event.
The arena is home to Cleveland Cavaliers of NBA, Cleveland Monsters of AHL and Cleveland State Vikings of NCAA. Former tenants include Cleveland Lumberjacks of IHL, Cleveland Rockers of WNBA, Cleveland Barons of AHL, Cleveland Gladiators of AFL and Cleveland Crush of LFL. In addition to NBA games, other sporting events that took place in the arena include games of the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship and Women's Division I Basketball Championship. It is home to the Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Tournament since 2000 and the Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Tournament since 2001. Several WWE events have also been hosted inside the arena, including SummerSlam in 1996, No Mercy in 1999, Invasion in 2001, Unforgiven in 2008 and Fastlane in 2016 and 2019. The arena has also hosted numerous broadcasts of WWE's weekly TV shows, Raw and SmackDown. In 2000 and 2009 the arena paid host to U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Musical acts who performed inside the arena include 2Pac, Cher, Rammstein, Def Leppard, AC/DC, Journey, Katy Perry, Metallica, Ariana Grande, Paul McCartney and Motley Crue. In 2016, the arena hosted the first Republican presidential debate.
