A performance for the One Big Weekend festival organised by the BBC.  Muse's first show since they recorded the new album and their first UK gig since Earls Court, 2004.
First arena show of The 2nd Law Tour.

Matthew Bellamy, speaking a day before the gig: "We're a little bit rusty obviously, but we'll give it our best shot.  We are looking forward to playing, it's good to do a gig after such a long break.  It sort of kicks our arse back into gear and eh yeah I'm looking forward to it.  We'll probably play a few new tracks there, and obviously a couple of old ones as well, and yeah - I'm looking forward to it."
Information
Starlight was played for the first time, however out of the previously unheard songs the BBC Radio 1 broadcast only included Knights of Cydonia, perhaps this being an indicator that it was going to be the second single.  At the request of Muse's management, one of the major fan sites initially refused to host downloads of the gig.
Announced on the 7th of June 2012, Muse opened the European leg of The_2nd_Law_Tour with a performance inside Montpellier's Park&Suites Arena on the 16th of October. Members of the Muse website could enter a draw from the announcement until the 10th of June to gain the opportunity to buy tickets before general sale, which started on the 14th of June at 10:00.

A new version of Sunburn was played at this gig which featured Bellamy on guitar with Morgan Nicholls playing piano, creating a version that sounded very similar to the studio version. For unknown reasons however, this version hasn't been played since.
Unsustainable, Explorers, Liquid State and Isolated System were played live for the first time. Montpellier Jam (or short, Monty Jam) was also performed for the first time. Falling Down was also performed live for the first time in 12 years - though the song was played on piano, instead of guitar, and was shortened. The intro of Host was played for the first time in about 14 years. Undisclosed Desires returned after more than one year.

Videos of Supermassive Black Hole, Time Is Running Out, Sunburn and Bliss were shown on the Radio 1 webcast and on BBCi.
This is the first gig Matt sung a song without playing an instrument since Radio 1's Big Sunday in 2000. He did this for Follow Me and Undisclosed Desires, getting off the stage and walking up and down the barrier during the second half of the latter.

Bellamy used the Manson Chrome Bomber and the Manson M1D1 Black for the first time at the show, on a number of songs, while Dominic Howard used a new set of see-through acrylic drums.
This gig marked the debut of the graphite finish/green-LED Status CW Signature Bass 5-string (which is also the first 5-string in the Chris Wolstenholme Signature line) and the aqua blue finish/white-LED and graphite finish/red-LED Status Chris Wolstenholme Signature basses.

The band also sported a slightly different image from that of Absolution.  Bellamy returned to his jet black hair whilst Christopher Wolstenholme wore a very different haircut, significantly longer with a lighter colour.  Howard had also grown his hair much longer.

First arena show of The 2nd Law Tour.

Information

Announced on the 7th of June 2012, Muse opened the European leg of The_2nd_Law_Tour with a performance inside Montpellier's Park&Suites Arena on the 16th of October.[1] Members of the Muse website could enter a draw from the announcement until the 10th of June to gain the opportunity to buy tickets before general sale,[1] which started on the 14th of June at 10:00.[3]

This is the first gig Matt sung a song without playing an instrument since Radio 1's Big Sunday in 2000. He did this for Follow Me and Undisclosed Desires, getting off the stage and walking up and down the barrier during the second half of the latter.
