Christopher Wolstenholme was using a sunburst Fireglo Rickenbacker 4001 bass live during the from the beginning of the Black Holes and Revelations tour to the start of The 2nd Law tour. He played those songs with a plectrum (partially): see plectrums for more information.

He isn't playing a 4001, but a 4003. Note this :
- Uncovered bridge PU on Chris' bass (4001 = uncovered | 4003 = covered)
- Mono output jack on Chris' bass (4001 = mono | 4003 = stereo & mono (switchable))
