Appearance

One of the first appearances of qua@aol.com was in 2001 when Bellamy posted this email on the "Matt's rambling page" on the old Muse site that was designed by Nonplane and occasionally contributed to by Bellamy.[1] The text said "for cheap sex write here", assuming Bellamy was very horny for some online love.

Cryptology epics

During the Absolution tour when Muse were touring the States, Bellamy also put his email address on one of the set lists in a form of an anagram. The song was called "Cold Aqua Tomato" which rearranged would be "Qua at AOL dot Com". Additional songs (Timescale Keeper and Unpacked Residents) were additional anagrams asking people to "Keep email secret" and "Send Naked Pictures" respectively. Those who sent photos of themselves naked (this only included pictures of naked hands and arms) were contacted for additional help on the adventure.

Muse messageboard antics

After both occurances of qua@aol.com, and the notification by AOL Instant Messenger that the user of this email address has signed on occasionally in recent months when the user name Qua is added to one's AOL buddy list, more and more people from the message board have been adding qua@aol.com hoping to catch Bellamy logging onto the service. However, one must note that Bellamy has a tendency to simply ignore the hundreds of instant messaging windows he receives as soon as he logs on and is only there to check his mail. Only those who are persistent (or creative) enough get Matt's attention.

Contacting Qua

Don't. But you know you want to.

Is it really really Bellamy?

In a word, yes. His AOL profile [only viewable to users of AOL] has his name and occupation listed on it and it has been connected too often to him for it not to be, although it is highly doubtful that this is his primary e-mail address/IM anymore. However, it is probable that Howard or Tom log onto his computer.
