Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins are a heavy sounding American Alternative Rock Band formed in Chicago, 1988. Billy Corgan (Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Song and Lyric writer) and Jimmy Chamberlin (Drums) are the only remaining original members. James Iha and D'arcy Wretzky were replaced by Jeff Schroeder (Second Guitar) and Ginger Reyes (Bass) as well as Lisa Harrison (Keyboard) when the band reunited in 2006 after six years apart.
The band may have been one of Muse's earlier influences, however in 2005 Bellamy told Keyboardmag;
"Smashing Pumpkins, even though they’re not piano-based. I always found their arrangements interesting, like on the album, Siamese Dream."
The opening riff in the Pumpkin's song 'Silverfuck' has a resemblance to the riff in Dead Star.
