Muselive.com
Muselive.com is the largest Muse fan site, notable for hosting authorised bootlegs with over 60GB of downloadable media. The forum is second largest, behind Muse.mu. The website is currently hosted on its own dedicated server (Dual Xeon 3.4Ghz HT), professionally managed by Servstra.com.
The site was formerly hosted by Softmeg.[1]
On the 22nd November 2006, the site was compromised by a black hat hacker. It was compromised again later the same month.
The Muselive administrators subscribed to a new dedicated hosting service in January 2007, taking advantage of the season's offers. The new server will consist of a Core 2 Duo E6750, four gigabytes of volatile memory and two 500 gigabyte hard drives in a RAID 1 array. The connection will be two way 100 megabit. The server will be located in a data centre in Dallas, Texas and the transfer will take place towards the end of January 2008.[2]
As of January 2008, Muselive is currently undergoing a redesign and re-write. From the 10th of January, progress has been viewable at skintest.muselive.com by selected user agents.[3] This change has been under development since before September 2006.[4]
Fabricated tracks
Muselive has been subject to false claims of new Muse compositions several times. This started with one of Warner's marketing people by then name of "Mr.X" uploading two short clips of Easily along with riddles to decrypt the archives they were stored within.
In December 2007, an instrumental was was uploaded to muselive forum, with a claim that it's the theme for the H.A.A.R.P. CD/DVD.[5] This person later claimed to have found the song labelled as such on Soulseek.[6][7] This was later confirmed as fake by the uploader after receiving a takedown request.[6][7] EditorX claims to have been contacted by the composer, who informed him that it was a leaked demo.[6][7]
