Boss PS-3

The Boss PS-3 Pitch Shifter/Delay pedal is a stompbox, manufactured and distributed by Boss Corporation, a pedal manufacturer and division of the Roland Corporation. The pedal is special in that it combines both pitch shifting modes and delay modes in one box. The PS-3 was sold from March 1994 to January 1999.[1]

The Boss PS-3 includes seven pitch shift modes and three delay modes, aswell as an expression mode. The pitch shift level is selectable in 26 steps; 24 chromatic steps over a +/- 1 octave range plus a 2-octave up-down capability. The delay can be set in three modes; Mode 1 (32 miliseconds to 125 miliseconds), Mode 2 (125 miliseconds to 500 miliseconds) and Mode 3 (500 miliseconds to 2000 miliseconds). The detune mode adds a slightly pitch-shifted sound to the input sound to create a detuned effect. The pedal also includes a Fast Pitch Shift mode which creates only a slight pitch shift and a Slow Pitch Shift mode, which creates more delay and pitch shifting. It also includes an Inverse Pitch Shift mode, which inverses the shifted sounds. The Detune & Detune mode adds two slightly detuned sounds to create a fatter detuned effect, Detune & Pitch Shift mode detunes output from Output A and pitch shifts output from Output B. Pitch Shift & Pitch Shift mode pitch shifts both outputs and Expression mode allows for the expression pedal to be used; A connected expression pedal will set the pitch shift between Pitch A and Pitch B.

Wolstenholme used the Boss PS-3 during the Absolution tour. It is unknown what he used the pedal on exactly but it was seen in the off-stage pedalboard on the rack.
