Background
This guitar is an "improved and tweaked" continuation of the Cort MBC-1 and is produced in association with Cort, but under the Manson trademark. In terms of pricing and specifications, it is almost identical to the Cort MBC-1, with the only noticeable difference being the pickups, which have been slightly updated and now feature two humbuckers instead of a humbucker-single coil combination (also bearing similarities to the Manson Matt Black 3.0) and the electronics cavity in the back, which was routed larger as standard for easier modification purposes and the Manson Logo on the Headstock.
It's the first retail Matt Bellamy signature guitar with two humbuckers and the cheapest guitar sold by Manson.
The guitar was announced on January 12th 2020, with social media posts by Manson Guitars and Matt Bellamy. It was unveiled to the public for the first time a week later at the Winter NAMM Show 2020.
It is available in both Satin (Matte) Black and Starlight Silver (Matte-like Silver) - likely a homage to the high spec Manson DL-1 Matthew Bellamy Signature Guitars and similar finished Aluminium Manson's.
Matt also said in an interview with Guitar magazine that he was planning to take a bunch of the Meta Series on the next tour as they're a lot cheaper if he ends up smashing them on stage. (these will likely be slightly upgraded versions - Sustainiacs and possibly Gotoh hardware and the likes). This will show how similar to full spec Manson's the new Meta Series are, at a much lower price point and affordable for more fans.
Upgrade options
Manson Guitar Works offer the additional Sustainer install, replacing the neck pickup. As with the Cort MBC-1, more modification options are presumably going to be available in the future.
