Description

B-side that was rarely played live. A fan favourite, this is yet another early song in which Bellamy shows off his impressive vocal skills. Shrinking Universe was one of the tracks alongside Nature_1 originally considered for Origin of Symmetry, however it did not make the cut.

Slightly similar arpeggios to Stockholm Syndrome and Bliss.

Live

It was played at least six times before Origin of Symmetry was released. On the final leg of the tour, through October and November, it was a regular part of the setlist. As both months had a combined sixteen gigs and only eight setlists are known of those sixteen, it is possible the song was played up to fourteen times live. It is assumed to have never been played after the 2000 tour.

Lyrics

Cast your ideals onto me

And I'll show you what you really need Give too much attention And I'll reflect your imperfections

Can't you see it's over Because you're the god Of a shrinking universe

Purposeless survival Now there's nothing left to die for So don't struggle to recognize Now the cruelly heart-felt suicide

Can't you see it's over Because you're the god Of a shrinking universe

Aaah...

Can't you see it's over Because you're the god Of a shrinking universe

Early live version

Cast your ideals onto me

And I'll show you what you really need Give me some attention And I'll hide your imperfections

Can't you see it's over Because you're the god Of a shrinking universe

Purposeless survival Now there's nothing left to die for So don't struggle to recognize Another heart-felt, coldly suicide

Can't you see it's over Because you're the god Of a shrinking universe

Aaah...

Can't you see it's over Because you're the god Of a shrinking universe
