Analysis and Explanation

The song made it's debut in 2006 and since then has become a Muse live staple. During the Black Holes and Revelations Tour it was rotated with Take a Bow as the set opener and closer. It returned during The Resistance Tour and became the standard set closer throughout the tour, though it was sometimes played near the start but uncommonly. It once again returned in The 2nd Law World Tour, and while it started off as a set closer in rotation with Survival, it was usually played in the middle of the set while Survival became the soul closer during the tour. However, when it came back during the Drones Tour it returned as the set closer and remained that way for the entire tour.

The song is received very well by the Muse fan base, which is one of the factors that made it a live staple. However, Dom Howard has stated his displeasure in playing the song last in the set as he gets quote 'exhausted' by the end. Nevertheless, its the seventh most played song live by Muse with it being played over 630 times, as of February 2017.
