In the approximate period of 1991–1994, Christopher Wolstenholme played drums in Fixed Penalty, at first one of many bands in the area. By the end of its existence, it was one of only two main bands, along with Gothic Plague.[1]

Wolstenholme described his frustration during the period shortly before the band splitting up, which he explained was due to the other members not being interested in actually playing music, but instead with the image of being in a band.[1]

As with Gothic Plague, Fixed Penalty played covers as opposed to original compositions. Wolstenholme recalled having played music by the Mega City Four and The Wonder Stuff, among other bands.[1]
