Discography table
Rightio, I'm considering putting the whole discography into a table, seems better then right now as a list is far too long, this would be more confusing to implement in future, but i think it will benefit still. I'll do a demo here
Albums | EPs | Compilations |

Showbiz | Origin of Symmetry | Absolution |

Single Merging
How about merging the Hullabaloo CDs, & merging singles into one article (ie. Plug In Baby CD1, CD2, France, Germany, Japan & Vinyl all in one)? It seems simpler, easier to navigate & would be easier to maintain. --Tene
- Perhaps I should reword this ... If anyone has any complaints about merging single & compilation pages as described above, then voice them soon. --Tene
Vinyls
Is it okay to add the vinyls from this URL?: eil.com - Vicious
Order
At the moment, the order is newest first - but for the singles, I was thinking maybe it would be better to do them alphabetically (still grouped in within their album name). What does everyone else think about this? --Tene 06:09, 11 May 2006 (BST)
- I would keep them newest first order. Seems the most logical to me. Besides, you can easily see all the singles at once, there aren't *that* many, so you don't really need to search. -- Vicious 11 May 2006
- I think chronologically is better
Promos
Are there any more promos to add? --Tene 07:30, 11 May 2006 (BST)
Hullabaloo
I think Hullabaloo shouldn't be there, it's not a studio album, just a compilation.
- The B-sides were made in the studio... - Orange
Possible Single?
Is it alright if I jot down Glorious, Exo-politics, Crying Shame, and Assasin as possible singles? Just did Exo-politics in case... the reason these are possible singles is, well, look at the fourth album theory. - Orange
- Only add singles if you have a source (Starlight has one, although not reliable). The fourth album theory was written by someone with a lot of spare time on their hands, and beside what had already been revealed in interviews, didn't add much. --Tene 17:46, 8 August 2006 (BST)
- Starlight has a video... why would they make a video for a song that isn't becoming a single? And why do we HAVE the fourth album theory if it's fake? - Orange
- What I meant with Starlight (though I wasn't clear) is that it was added a while back due to it actually having a source. And on the fourth album theory, it's there as a reference to what was believed at the time. --Tene 23:17, 8 August 2006 (BST)

Augmenting the discography
With the help of agg25's collection, my collection and eBay I've managed to get a few dozen more promos back on - mopst of which weren't here before the crash anyway. There's probably just as many items left to add out there though... ۞ 11:16, 22 August 2006 (BST)
- Thanks for that, I think you're the only one who has the resources to do that :P --Tene 14:09, 22 August 2006 (BST)
- No prob, just glad to help get this place back on its feet really. I'll readd the art galleries back to BHaR and OoS soon since I still have the images on my PC ۞ 19:52, 22 August 2006 (BST)
- Everytime I think there are no more promos and acetates...another 20 more are found, and I'm about to find a whole lor mote...۞ 12:07, 18 September 2006 (BST)
- Its disturbingly crazy!!! Now the singles pages scare me too much hahaa, I was thinking perhaps we should turn them all into galleries to artwork rather then bombard the side with stuff. Maybe one on the side is enough. --crazybobbles 14:06, 18

September 2006 (BST)
- My thoughts exactly - maybe have just the english version(s) as the thumb on the right, and all the other images in a gallery below the track lists like the album artwork? ۞ 16:06, 18 September 2006 (BST) Like this: http://www.musewiki.org/Muscle_Museum_%28single%29 ۞ 18:40, 18 September 2006 (BST)
Is it possible to add the template for a single navigation box? Like the album navigation box or the discography box on wikipedia? Or is it too unnecessary? ۞ 19:04, 10 September 2006 (BST) Sounds fine, I'll get to work on it, the album nav thing still needs alot of touching up to do as it looks a bit cacky haha --crazybobbles 14:06, 18 September 2006 (BST) Great ۞ 16:09, 18 September 2006 (BST)
Tributes
Any point in adding another section for tributes (i.e. the string quartet tribute) on the discography, or just leave them as side notes in each song article? ۞ 16:09, 18 September 2006 (BST)
JP Cassette credit
Thanks to Dark Phoenix for allowing the use of his pictures of the JP and UA promo cassettes, and his Muse collections forum can be found here. ۞ 20:27, 19 September 2006 (BST)
Compilations
I've split the compilations group up so that promo compilations and demos are in a different group. The reason or this is that promo compilations are radio only CDs that are never released and are often exclusively contain Muse tracks compiled from various Muse releases or played live, whereas other compilations are usually OSTs etc. ۞ 19:46, 10 October 2006 (BST)
- Did everything just turn... purple in the discography pages...?۞ 18:51, 30 October 2006 (GMT)
- Oh yes, very snazzy isn't it. I think this calls for a more neutral colour logo, however ... --Tene 19:31, 30 October 2006 (GMT)
- Lol, yeh, bit of a colour clash...but why does it still say beta in the corner? Everything on here seems pretty standardised and complete now ۞ 16:01, 31 October 2006 (GMT)
- The beta sign was sort of a joke on the web2.0 buzzword, flikr is probably the one that started it off, though its in Gamma now haha. Uhm... we can easily have purple changed, dont mind having the logo changed either, as I've stated in the logo page, it still needs doing. Feel free to give it a go if you're a good logo maker. --crazybobbles 20:38, 31 October 2006 (GMT)

Those interview promos
Perhaps we could host them as really low bit rate Vorbis files (that's a request to rip them at least :P)? Hm ... aoTuV beta 5 is out, and is available on RareWares *hint *hint* --Tene 02:49, 1 November 2006 (GMT)
- ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES *dials 9-11* Salty 03:51, 1 November 2006 (GMT)
- Copyright infringement isn't illegal. Besides, it could be classed as fair use. I believe 'bobbles is pretty close with the main man (as in Kirk), so he could find out whether hosting low quality copies would piss Warner off (buying music from labels other than Warner would piss Warner off, but you know what I mean). --Tene 04:14, 1 November 2006 (GMT)
- Tom takes ages to reply, especially on requests like these. Another thing is actually hosting audio files, even if they're low bitrates, eventually it will go mad. Lets stick to the info and let sites like Muselive spend millions on hosting audio files. I will give it some extra thought too :) --crazybobbles 13:05, 1 November 2006 (GMT)
- I've got the MUSE13 ripped and uploaded to SYS @ muselive if someone wnats to convert it & it's allowed on here ۞ 22:41, 8 November 2006 (GMT)

Converting NL to BX on all PIAS releases
For anyone who cares, that's what I'm thinking of doing, given that PIAS publishes for the whole Benelux region and itself originates from Belgium. And also that the creation of a key for those who aren.t familiar with country code on the main discography page, or something like that. Input would be nice if you happen to read this :) ۞ 16:45, 6 April 2007 (BST)
- It'd be simpler to direct users to the Alpha 2 column of this country code list. --Tene 23:31, 6 April 2007 (BST)
Single; EP template
Any protest to seperate templates for singles and EPs? Same as albums, but with a different title and a couple of minor changes? - eg. in singles "Album | Absolution etc." for an Absolution single, plus different colour scheme ۞ 19:32, 23 July 2007 (BST)
Galleries
Anyone object to having just two or three pictures per album/single/whatnot and moving the rest to a seperate gallery thereof? --Tene 20:50, 9 December 2007 (GMT)
- I've started this change as of now. --Tene 22:53, 11 December 2007 (GMT)
Box abuse
The way discoboxes are used at the moment is, in my view, ridiculous. I think we need to come up with a new scheme of putting the essential information in the box and additional information in the body, in some way that looks both integrated and easy to read. I suggest we keep the GB releases in the box and move the rest to their own table. Suggestions to implementation details are welcome (read: wanted). --Tene 22:53, 11 December 2007 (GMT)
- I was thinking tabs. Tab each country. I would be glad to *borrow* the tabs template of Wikipedia (eg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tutorial) and implement it on all pages in the discography. It would also mean galleries could be kept in the main article because for each country they would be relatively small. I have also found the format awkward as it means matching data from the tables to the track lists to the images (which I feel is worsened with separate gallery pages). This would be less of a problem when each is divided up. I'll do a mock up of the Uno (single) page to give better idea. ۞ 15:02, 12 December 2007 (GMT)
- Seems to work ok: UnoMock (single) (GB). Think this will work? As a drawback it would be the creation of many pages for each single. We could just divide each page into different, similar to the old way where we had a different infobox for each seperate CD, but just for separate countries. ۞ 17:12, 12 December 2007 (GMT)
- That looks pretty good. Maybe the style could be altered to fit in with the rest of MW. I still think we should keep images per page (or tab) down to two or three though. --Tene 18:04, 12 December 2007 (GMT)

- I don't think these tabs will work - it seems silly to divide up each article due to minor variations between countries like a release date or a cat. number. I've been trying to find some way of having expandable regions or something similar so we can keep articles intact but not have a whole jumble of information there. If we could have something like the NavFrame installed we could a "[show]/[hide]" thing in the table to expand and show detail like release dates, and another to expand and show the otherwise hidden gallery and references, if that's at all possible. ۞ 19:33, 13 December 2007 (GMT)
- I've done a test page for a possible format - BHAR TEST A - could be merged with the tabs idea to put all the info below "Releases" in a separate tab. Obviously it's incomplete but it gives an idea of how the page could be broken down. Any feedback? Good idea or bad idea? ۞ 16:03, 18 December 2007 (GMT)
ISO codes
UK should be GB when referring to the United Kingdom, UK is Ukraine. Any objections? --Tene 22:55, 11 December 2007 (GMT)
- Ukraine is UA, but UK should be changed to GB. ۞ 15:02, 12 December 2007 (GMT)
Arrangement
I've never thought to question it, but why is the discography in reverse chronological order? On wikipedia things are most often order in chronological order and this would make more sense to me. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Anyone think it should be changed? ۞ 21:19, 1 January 2008 (GMT)
- Hmm...... never really noticed. I guess it could be made chronological just for convenience, but you'd have to find someone willing to flip that whole thing around. I'd be willing to go for it, if no one objects. 7 21:29, 1 January 2008 (GMT)
- Easier to edit, easier to read considering information is changing on newer releases faster than it is on older releases, as the present has a habit of doing. --Tene 23:07, 1 January 2008 (GMT)
- I guess that's an objection.... 7 06:08, 2 January 2008 (GMT)
- It does make sense. When new releases are coming out soon more people will want to access the article. It's no trouble to scroll down a page but just for convenience it's probably best left as adding to the top upwards. ۞ 16:38, 11 January 2008 (GMT)

Fake watch?
Just an idea I had - with the official boards attack against fakes recently - would it be a good idea to have a single page logging any fake items that appear, with small thumbnails where available, as a more permanent source of information regarding what not to buy? ۞ 16:38, 11 January 2008 (GMT)
- Sounds useful. I have no objections. --Tene 17:02, 11 January 2008 (GMT)
- I'll get on it soon. ۞ 14:00, 26 January 2008 (GMT)
Two alternatives -
BHAR TEST A
- Pros: All info regarding analogous releases grouped together, all relevant info can be displayed simultaneously
- Cons: Requires one of two new templates to me made and implemented. Requires clicking to display info.
- Pros: Hover over to display info, can be implemented using existing templates
- Cons: Unhovering closes info, can't be simultaneously displayed - still requires "jumping about" an article to find info about a single release.
Opinions? Maybe a merge of the above? ۞ 14:00, 26 January 2008 (GMT)
- Add to that:
- One requires JavaScript and loads of code in general
- One doesn't require JavaScript and it's implemented with a tiny bit of CSS ;)
- --Tene 14:04, 26 January 2008 (GMT)
- Indeed, but as I said, I could make - did make - a merge. However, probably best to stick with the Uno one, less effort, no new templates etc. ۞ 18:30, 26 January 2008 (GMT)
Regrouping
See this to get an idea of small reformatting of the main page. Ye or nay? Obviously a few things need to be altered from that but it looks good to me. ۞ 13:56, 2 February 2008 (GMT)
- Ye! (but the Buy Now link for HAARP goes to a site where one can purchase BHAR) User: 18:05, 2 February 2008 (GMT)
- Yeah, a few things need fixing, Hullabaloo need to be removed from the Albums section. Sorts out original studio albums from live albums and Muse releases from various artists releases too. ۞ 18:38, 2 February 2008 (GMT)
Feeling Good digital single...
Do we stick it under the article about the 2001 double A-side, the article about the HAARP album, or a new single page under a "HAARP" heading, like DS/IYW under Hullabaloo? They all seem like quite redundant options really. ۞ 12:09, 15 March 2008 (GMT)
- I think it best to add the release to the original single page. I'm indifferent wrt adding a new HAARP single column; it might be beneficial but seems a waste of space, being so sparsely populated. --Tene 05:50, 16 March 2008 (GMT)
Kangaroo Blues
Just wanted to draw everyone's attention to this.
It's a cd-r of Muse's live performance at the 2004 Sydney Big Day Out and also a show from Cardiff.
The single review on the above page reads:
"As the name might suggest, this soundboard recording has originated from Australia and comprises of two separate shows emanating from Sydney and Cardiff. The sleeve tells no lie either - the recording is amazing and it's a pleasure to hear the odd few songs played twice (from both gigs) on the disk.
The bootleg was actually released in 2004 on the Ganja Records label, and it was by pure fluke that I decided to give it a download - but even though I don't know anything else about it I'm glad I took a chance. The typically breathtaking Muse live show comes complete with all of the progressive and space rock classics like New Born, Bliss and Plug in Baby; needless to say I recommend this!
[a] Stockholm Syndrome, New Born, Thoughts Of a Dying Atheist, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Sunburn, Muscle Museum, Hysteria, Bliss, Time Is Running Out, Plug In Baby
[b] New Born, Sing For Absolution, Citizen Erased, (Piano Interlude), Space Dementia, Butterflies and Hurricanes
[a] Live in Sydney [b] Live on Cardiff"
I had not heard of this release before I saw this. Does it qualify for the discography section? Is it an official release by Muse or what? It seems a bit shady...
The item is available on eBay here. And for more info there's a download of the cd available here (this is merely for further reference - I don't condone the illegal obtainment of this material).
So. Another CD for the discography or does this not qualify?--Nick 10:01, 28 March 2008 (GMT)
- The selling of bootlegs is illegal and this doesn't qualify for any of the main discography section - there is a list of unofficial things at the bottom of the discography. Not a good idea in my opinion since there are so many unofficial DVDs/CDs, the list would be comparable to the rest of the discography is size if anyone made an attempt to expand it. A separate bootleg index would have been better in my opinion. ۞ 12:17, 28 March 2008 (GMT)
- Yeah I agree. Just wanted to be sure about this one.--Nick 12:50, 28 March 2008 (GMT)
Fifth album move
I've moved it up to the top as we're likely to be getting a lot more info on it soon. Seems the September release date was accurate given the newly announced tour dates and the unofficial confirmation on the Toulouse gig. I'd expect that, since the album is nearing completion, more specific details about tracks will emerge soon and the article can begin to take the shape of the other album articles away from the running commentary on progress as it currently is. Let me know if anyone thinks this is premature or something. ۞ 03:12, 1 April 2009 (BST)
Album/single box template
Something I think is a bit counter inuitive about the box is how "year" and "release" are seperate on the table. Would seem to make more sense to just have one row for all of it. Any objections before I go and modify the templates and articles? ۞ 01:36, 8 June 2009 (BST)
- Mm, no objections here. It is rather redundant. --Tene 21:25, 8 June 2009 (BST)
Credits
Another major overhaul I'll regret suggesting: proper album credits a la Discogs. We have none but it would be nice it have a full album credits table, hidden by default, after the track lists somewhere. Would be nice to set up before the new album is released. I may make a template sometime...the info current box will be left alone as a summary of the most important info but it would be nice to be fully comprehensive with regards to information about each album. Just for the main releases, maybe EPS, probably not for singles. ۞ 15:10, 13 June 2009 (BST)
- Also, I'm moving the PiB and NB EPs into the single pages. And I'll add the new iTunes EPs. ۞ 18:45, 15 June 2009 (BST)
