The Capital One Arena, formerly known as MCI Center and Verizon Center, is an indoor multi-purpose arena, located in Chinatown in Washington D.C.. The arena broke ground in 1995 with private financing by Abe Pollin, with land leased from the District of Columbia, and opened in 1997 and has been considered as one of the catalysts of Chinatown's revitalization in the city of Washington D.C.. The maximum capacity of the arena sits at 20,656. It is operated by Monumental Sports & Entertainment. In 2007, the arena got the first true HD LED scoreboard. The arena is currently named after Capital One Financial Corporation.

Since it's opening, the Capital One Arena has been home to the Washington Wizards of NBA, Washington Capitals of NHL and Washington Hoyas of NCAA. It's also been home to Washington Mystics of WNBA, Washington Valor of AFL and, for a short time, Washington Power of NLL. The arena hosted many major league games, including the 1998 and 2018 Stanley Cup Finals, the 2001 NBA All-Star Game and the 2007 WNBA All-Star Game aswell as several rounds of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament. In 2005, the arena was home to Mike Tyson's final fight against Kevin McBride.

Musical acts who performed at the arena include Eric Clapton, The Who, Jennifer Lopez, Bon Jovi, U2, Maroon 5, AC/DC, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Green Day, Coldplay and more.
