Background

Christopher Wolstenholme was using a sunburst Fireglo Rickenbacker 4001 bass live from the beginning of the Black Holes and Revelations tour to the start of The 2nd Law tour.

Misjudgement as Rickenbacker 4003

Rickenbacker 4001

Previously this bass was mistaken as a Rickenbacker 4003. But there are some differences between those two basses.

- Bridge PU (4001 = uncovered | 4003 = covered)

- Output jack (4001 = mono | 4003 = stereo & mono (switchable))

Touring

He used this bass only for Knights of Cydonia and Map of the Problematique live and played those songs with a plectrum partially.

While simplifing his tour rack, this bass was replaced by the Status basses, that he mainly uses nowadays for The 2nd Law tour.

This bass is now displayed in the MUSEum for the Drones World Tour.
