Michael Eavis first mentioned the "next in line to Queen's throne" headliner, via his twitter feed on the 2nd of December.[source?] Two months to the day later, Eavis stated during the Event Production Show that it would be Muse who would headline on the 26th.[1]
Matthew Bellamy told NME Radio that "We're hoping to do something a bit unusual there. A little collaboration with someone, maybe get Bono to come and sing a song. I'm not sure if he'll be hanging around for that, but I'll ask him anyway." U2 was to headline on 25th June, the night before Muse perform,[3] but were forced to withdraw after Bono suffered a back injury, making way for Gorillaz in the Friday night slot.[4] Hearsay has it that U2 guitarist The Edge will perform with Muse at some point during the set.[5][6]
The most voted songs on the official setlist polls were Citizen Erased, Assassin, The Small Print, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist and Darkshines, the first of which was played at the gig.
