De Staat

De Staat is an alternative, electronic and experimental rock band from Nijmengen, Netherlands. Formed in 2006, the band started out as a one-man-band project by the lead singer Torre Florim who also got the band together. As of 2008, their line-up includes lead vocalist/guitarist Torre Florim, guitarist Vedran Mirčetić, bassist Jop van Summeren, guitarist/vocalist/keyboard player Roco Bell and drummer Tim van Delft. Their discography currently consists of Wait For Evolution (2009), Machinery (2011), I_Con (2013), Vinticious Versions (EP) (2014), O (2016), Live in Utrecht (Live Album) (2016) and Bubble Gum (2019).

De Staat are known for blending elements of indie and garage rock with elements of electronic and experimental rock.

On the album Machinery and it's tours, the band used a custom-built "drumming machine" consisting of common recycled items and scrap metal, designed and built by Geert Jonkers. A tiny table-top version of the machine was (with champagne) given by De Staat as a gift to Muse in 2016. The video was posted by Muse on their Twitter and can be seen here.

De Staat were supporting Muse during the European leg of the Drones World Tour at the Munich Olympiahalle gig, the two Lisbon and the Madrid gigs, the Wiener Stadthalle gig, the Zürich Hallenstadion gigs and the six Milan Mediolanum Forum gigs in March/May of 2016.
