<flashmp3>http://musewiki.org/images/GMinorAdagio.mp3%7Crightbg=0xDDEEFF%7Cleftbg=0xDDEEFF%7Cbg=0xFFFFFF</flashmp3>
Adagio in G minor was actually composed by Remo Giazotto based on Albinoni's Sonata in G minor. A fragment of the Sonata was found admist the ruins of the Saxon State Library, Dresden, bombed by the Allies in World War II.[1] While the piece was not actually written by Albinoni, it is commonly attributed to him.
It was played as a short jam before Time Is Running Out on the earlier half of the 2006 tour. This arrangement featured Bellamy's Kaoss Pad, with Wolstenholme playing single notes on bass, and no percussion.
This made its return when Matt got his doubleneck Manson guitar. Currently he plays this as in the intro to Resistance with the top neck. This can be seen in the footage of Resistance at Glastonbury 2010.
The piece is transposed to A minor, the key of Resistance, for live performances.

A short section of the second movement of Rachmaninov's piano concert № 2. The piano outro in "Neutron Star Collision" sounds very similar to the piano that is played beginning at :25 when the riff gets louder.
EDIT: Adagio Sostenuto means 'Sustained & At Ease' and is the tempo and name of many classical pieces, not just Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2. The piece played at the Seattle gig is indeed the piece played at the end of Neutron Star Collision, but is not taken from Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2. It is only similar in it's tempo and pace. The piece is pretty much written by Matthew Bellamy.

Usually played before "Sunburn" during Showbiz tour around 2000 (eg. Bizarre Festival 2000 (watch)). Played less often during Absolution tour (London Islington Carling Academy 2003, after "Bliss"). Reappeared in late-2007, being played after "Map of the Problematique" (Sydney Entertainment Centre 2007 (watch)), albeit in a lower key (due to different tuning).
The 'solo' was done with the Whammy pedal during the Showbiz tour, and was done with the Kaoss Pad for the latter part of the Black Holes and Revelations tour.
The riff sounds somewhat similar to that of "Gratitude" by the Beastie Boys.
It is also said to be Tom Morello influenced.
