Background

A new guitar built by Hugh Manson and based on the previous Mansons with the Kaoss Pad, such as the M1D1 Manson, sharing the bridge pickup of the M1D1 and the sustainer system of the Kaoss Manson, but with a "glam" look.

Said Hugh Manson of the guitar, "Matt said he wanted a new guitar, and I asked him to write down what he wanted, and he wrote 'sparkles.' When I was making it, I used a, well, it was like a wheat sifter, and just put the glitter on a bit at a time, then blew off the extra. It reminded me of making Christmas cards. All I could think was, 'you've got to be kidding me. I was bad enough at this when I was young.'"

Additional Information

Official replicas of the Glitterati Manson and Seattle Manson can be bought from the Manson online store. The MB-1 range (Matt Bellamy series 1) has a starting price of £3099 for a Black basic version with no midi screen or Manson hardware. To upgrade to a Red Sparkle Finish would be an extra £200, To upgrade to a MIDI Screen would be an additional £300 so an identical one to Matt's costs £3599. To have the Alloy Machine Heads like on Matts 'Delorean and' 'Son of Delorean/Ali Top' Guitars would be an extra £250.

Touring

This guitar got its first outing on 26th May 2007, at the Rockhal Festival in Luxembourg. There were 'concerns' over its condition after it was stabbed into an amp at Zagreb Cibona Hall, however it was back in action immediately afterwards with no visible damage.

This guitar was thought to be out of action due to Matt violently smashing it on the stage at the Brisbane Riverstage, in Australia. It was confirmed by many fans who attended that the neck snapped clean away from the body.[source?] Nevertheless, it was used again at KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas in December 2007.

This guitar was tossed by Matt and bounced off of Dom's drum riser after Stockholm Syndrome was performed at the Seattle KeyArena 2010 (gig). It appears that the neck snapped off the body, but there is skepticism, as some claim it was just a guitar strap they saw flop up after the guitar landed. Footage of the toss can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fz7K-NZGLI. For a view from stage left and facing Matt footage can also be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6Woe4MnXdE

In the first of the two Wembley gigs in September 2010, Matt threw the guitar away after playing Stockholm Syndrome leaving it too damaged to be played the next gig. Footage can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYrjnhbpwYE

The guitar was seen being repaired by Hugh the 13th of September at Manson's.
