This concert was part of the European leg of "The Resistance" tour, announced on the 1st of June.[2] First listed with the date on or before the 25th of March by Microcuts,[5] rumours of this concert were enforced when Muselive discovered in May[6] that ticket information website infoconcert.com had listed the concert with the date previously listed on Microcuts, a time and a price range.[1] Whether or not a Microcuts contributor and infoconcert obtained the information from the same source is unknown. Fan pre-sale information and links were announced on the 3rd of June.[7] Pre-sale took place on the 4th–5th[7] and general sale started on the 5th.[2] The concert was promoted by Alias.[3]

On playing songs from "The Resistance" live, Dominic Howard stated that learning to do so "should take a while!"[8] and Rehearsals started on the 19th of July.[9] On the 22nd, musewire readers were told to "expect an 8" stone 'enge" for The Resistance tour's stage design.[10]
