Following Matthew Bellamy's Twitter posts[1] [2] from Saturday 4th July 2009, the Ununited States of Eurasia microsite was launched alongside the new Official Muse website on the Monday 13th July 2009, after the completion of a countdown on a holding page that replaced the older Muse website on previous Friday.
On the day it was revealed, the following text was displayed on the page, on which fans could register.
PROJECT EURASIA FLASH BRIEFING DECLASSIFIED AND APPROVED FOR GENERAL RELEASE PREVIOUS CLASSIFICATION: INDIGO ALPHA SHARD GEOPOLITICAL EVENTS NOW NECESSITATE ACTIVATION OF THE STANDBY PLAN BRAVO NINER PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS GRAN AJEDREZ. MARKERS INCLUDE REALTIME ASSESSMENT OF POLITICAL AND PUBLIC SENTIMENT AT -2.57 (KNIGHT INDEX), SOCIO-ECONOMIC INDICATORS AT [REDACTED], ENERGY STABILITY INDICATORS AT [REDACTED], GLOBAL MARKET VOLATILITY MARKERS AT [REDACTED] AND SOVEREIGN STATE MILITARY EFFECTIVENESS AT [REDACTED]. In an official email the purpose of the microsite was revealed:
- "Not only are we launching a new website today, but we're also taking registrations over at http://ununitedeurasia.muse.mu for :something pretty special that will be starting in the next couple of days. Those of you who have been keeping up with Matt's :comments on Twitter will have an idea of what this is all about, but let's just say... if you want to be the first to hear a new :song from The Resistance, then get yourself registered today. It's going to need a whole lot of fans all around the world to make :it work so tell your friends and stay tuned!"
The advancement of the project therefore seemed to be determined on the number of registered users.
Phase 1 of 6
On Tuesday 14th July 2009 Phase 1 began. The map of Eurasia was updated and text on the front page of site was change to:

STATION FUSE became active and the following text was displayed on the site.

The audio file on the site was a female voice over some distorted audio, that read out the following message:
