Background

This was Matthew Bellamy's first guitar to feature an X-Y MIDI plate, able to control a number of devices, including a Korg Kaoss pad, or a Digitech Whammy etc. This feature has since been included in many of Bellamy's guitars such as the Manson Red Glitter and the Manson Black Midi. The guitar had a pair of hot P90's in the bridge position and was the first of the Matt's custom Manson's to have this configuration. This layout features also on the Manson Mirror Kaoss and on the Manson Doubleneck.

Additional Information

It is featured in music videos for "Invincible", "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)" and an alternative version of " Supermassive Black Hole" (watch). It can also be seen in the Making of Uprising video.

Although it is named officially as "M1D1 Black"[1] it is better known to fans as "Kaoss Manson".

On 17th November 2012 Manson Guitars issued a limited edition run of official replicas of this guitar at £3,899.00. Manson MB-2 SE Matthew Bellamy Signature Guitar
