Although the debut of this guitar was during the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the guitar was not actually played. It is quite clear throughout the footage that all instrumentation was mimed, making this also one of the first times Muse have mimed sensibly.

Background

This is a new guitar that appeared on the Muse Twitter Account on 9th August 2012, It is the first of Matt's Manson guitars (apart from the Ali-Top) not to have any internal effects/controllers. The guitar does not feature a X/Y midi controller pad, a change from a majority of Matt's Resistance era guitars.

The guitar had to match a specific weight requirement (around 2.4kg) so multiple holes were drilled into the body, neck, hardware to reach the target weight.

Although the debut of this guitar was during the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the guitar was not actually played. It is quite clear throughout the footage that all instrumentation was mimed, making this also one of the few times Muse have mimed sensibly.

This was one of five other Manson guitars created by Hugh Manson for Bellamy in 2012.

The Bridge pickup was changed to a (presumably Manson MBK-1) P90 Pickup before the London Roundhouse gig

Muse Twitter

At the Birmingham gig on the 30th of October the Manson carbon was fitted with a single coil Seymour Duncan pickup in place of the fernandes sustainer.
