This concert was part of the European leg of The Resistance tour, announced on the 1st of June.[1] Fan pre-sale information and links were announced on the 3rd of June.[5] Pre-sale took place on the 17th–19th[5] and general sale started on the 19th.[1]

On playing songs from The Resistance live, Dominic Howard stated that learning to do so "should take a while!"[6] and rehearsals started on the 19th of July.[7] On the 22nd, musewire readers were told to "expect an 8" stone 'enge" for the tour's stage design.[8]

The tarp on Howard's tower got stuck about half way down when released during Uprising. The band stood on their elevating towers until the guitar-beginning of New Born, while the keyboard intro was played by Morgan Nicholls. Balloons were released during Plug In Baby. Matthew Bellamy kicked his mic-stand over during the second chorus of Stockholm Syndrome, which he fixed himself. Also, his guitar became out of tune which was restored directly[what?].
