Is our secret safe tonight?
Is our secret safe tonight?
And are we out of time?
And are we out of sight?
Or will our world come crumbling down?
Or will our world come crumbling down?
Will they find our hiding place?
Will they find our hiding place?

The story is a life of fear,
If we live our life in fear,
I'll wait a thousand years,
I'll wait a thousand years,
Just to see you smile again.
Just to see you smile again.
Count our prayers for love and peace,
Count our prayers for love and peace,
You'll wake the thought police,
You'll wake the Thought Police,
We can hide the truth inside.
We can hide the truth inside.

Information

"Resistance" opens with piano and drums and has a Queen-esque chorus.[2] Described in NME magazine as having "tribals drums and a piano melody in the style of 'Starlight.'"[3] In the September 2009 issue of Spin, Matt said, "The song 'Resistance' is basically a retelling of the relationship between Winston and Julia," in reference to the two main characters of George Orwell's 1984.

Is our secret safe tonight?
And are we out of sight?
Or will our world come crumbling down?
Will they find our hiding place?
Is this our last embrace?
Or will the world stop caving in?

It could be wrong, could be wrong,
But it should've been right,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
To let our hearts ignite,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
Are we digging a hole?
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
This is outta control,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
It could never last,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
Must erase it fast,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
But it could've been right,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,

Love is our resistance,
They'll keep us apart and they won't stop breaking us down.
Hold me,
Our lips must always be sealed.

If we live our life in fear,
I'll wait a thousand years,
Just to see you smile again.
Count our prayers for love and peace,
You'll wake the Thought Police,
We can hide the truth inside.

It could be wrong, could be wrong,
But it should've been right,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
To let our hearts ignite,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
Are we digging a hole?
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
This is outta control,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
It could never last,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
Must erase it fast,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,
But it could've been right,
It could be wrong, could be wrong,

Love is our resistance,
They'll keep us apart and they won't stop breaking us down.
Hold me,
Our lips must always be sealed.

And our ??? has reached its end,
We can pretend,
We must embark,
???

Take us away from here,
Protect us from ???
